  D-Cycloserine is a partial agonist of NMDA receptors at the glycine site. D-Cycloserine has experimentally been shown to facilitate activation of the receptor and thereby improve memory and cognition. An amino acid analog, D-Cycloserine inhibits bacterial cell wall biosynthesis.

D-Cycloserine, it is an antibiotic effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Since the discovery that cycloserine is able to penetrate into the central nervous system, numerous studies have been conducted to assess the efficacy of cycloserine for psychiatric disorders.
