1. Introduction
Cetyl Tranexamate HCl is a new generation of tranexamic acid, it is also called "TXC", is a unique ester composed of lipid hydrocarbon chains. Its emergence represents a major scientific breakthrough in the control of pigmentation. TXC's unique molecular structure has unprecedented deep penetration into the epidermis, which is 90 times that of traditional acid forms.
2. Main Functions
2.1 Since Cetyl Tranexamate HCl is a kind of tranexammic acid, so it has the functions of the latter, which can brighten the skin by inhibiting the melanin production, lightening pigmentation.
Tranexamic acid and tyrosine have similar chemical structures, which can directly compete with tyrosine, interfere with the catalytic effect of tyrosinase, and reduce the production of melanin. Tranexamic acid also prevents the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, reduces the release of AA and PGE2, and inhibits melanogenesis. Its mechanism is showed in the figure below.
2.2 Tranexamic acid is also a serine protease inhibitor, which may inhibit melanin transport through the PAR2 signaling pathway.
2.3 Studies have shown that tranexamic acid, as a plasmin inhibitor, can directly inhibit angiogenesis and also inhibit the formation of new blood vessels induced by fibroblast growth factor. Another study showed that 10 female patients with chloasma received 2% tranexamic acid externally for 12 weeks. Skin pathology and immunohistochemical analysis showed that the number of blood vessels in and around the lesions of chloasma decreased, and the growth of vascular endothelial cells. Factor (VEGF) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) expression was down-regulated.
